{"id":321,"date":"2012-02-08T17:31:24","date_gmt":"2012-02-08T17:31:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/riverbankfinance.com\/blog\/?p=321"},"modified":"2012-12-10T17:45:54","modified_gmt":"2012-12-10T17:45:54","slug":"obamas-plan-to-help-responsible-homeowners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/riverbankfinance.com\/blog\/obamas-plan-to-help-responsible-homeowners\/","title":{"rendered":"Obama&#8217;s Plan to Help Responsible Homeowners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/riverbankfinance.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Obama-Plan-for-Responsible-Homeowners.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-322\" src=\"https:\/\/riverbankfinance.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Obama-Plan-for-Responsible-Homeowners-300x300.png\" alt=\"Responsible Homeowner Help\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/riverbankfinance.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Obama-Plan-for-Responsible-Homeowners-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/riverbankfinance.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Obama-Plan-for-Responsible-Homeowners-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/riverbankfinance.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Obama-Plan-for-Responsible-Homeowners.png 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>The U.S. housing market has encountered its fair share of struggles over the past few years.\u00a0 Luckily it seems things are beginning to turn around and hopefully President Obama\u2019s plan will help boost the turn around time.\u00a0 What exactly does the President have planned for our housing market and will it actually work?\u00a0 Obama and his committee seem pretty confident in the plan they have laid-out.<\/p>\n<p>There are several aspects to the plan so let\u2019s begin with one of the main goals they hope to achieve.\u00a0 The plan begins with broad based refinancing, to save upwards of $3,000 for responsible homeowners.\u00a0 What does that mean though?\u00a0 It gives borrowers who are current\/up to date on their mortgage payments the ability to refinance and take advantage of today\u2019s historically low rates.<\/p>\n<p>The next step the President is hoping to accomplish is pushing through the \u201c<em>Homeowner Bill of Rights<\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 This will ensure that borrowers and lenders abide by the same standards and \u201cplay nice\u201d for once.\u00a0 The following is a list of what this new bill brings to the table.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Borrowers must have access to a simple mortgage disclosure form in order to understand the loans they are taking out.<\/li>\n<li>There must be a complete disclosure of penalties and fees.<\/li>\n<li>Specific guidelines will be placed to prevent \u201cconflicts of interest\u201d which often wound up hurting homeowners.<\/li>\n<li>A support system to help responsible families to avoid foreclosure.<\/li>\n<li>Protection for families who may be facing inappropriate foreclosure along with the right of appeal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can expect to see foreclosed homes throughout the country being transformed into rental properties.\u00a0 Major banks and the GSE\u2019s will be providing upwards of 12 months of forbearance for any unemployed borrowers.<\/p>\n<p>The next step is the establishment of a joint investigation aimed at determining the misconduct that had, in part, caused the recent financial crisis we encountered.\u00a0 This will lead to establishing preventions to ensure the same mistakes will NEVER be made again.<\/p>\n<p>These plans combine with the <a title=\"What is HARP 2.0?\" href=\"http:\/\/home-affordable-mortgage.com\/what-is-harp-2-0\/\" target=\"_blank\">Making Home Affordable Refinance Program<\/a> (HARP) will work together to help stabilize the housing market and the economy altogether.\u00a0 If homeowners are able to save around thousands per year on their mortgage, this money will be put to good use buying products and services and pumping more money through the economy.
